For Flute and String Quartet
Duration: about 2'34"
This piece of music illustrates Bilbo Baggins from J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. Beginning as a graceful dance resembling the Shire, the music follows Bilbo as he travels to different places in Middle Earth. The quiet middle pizzicato section is the 'burglar' demonstrating his skill, sneaking around unnoticed. The piece ends where it began because it is a tale of a hobbit; there and back again.
