  • Trio in G Minor, Op. 21 is a five-movement work for clarinet, trumpet, and bass trombone. The movements are loosely structured like a rondo; movements I. Andante, III. Adagio, and V. Vivacissimo are based on variations of a primary melody. Movements II. Adagio and IV. Allegro vivace are constructed from entirely different melodies and motifs. The mixing of different styles and references of various composers create a unique canvas that displays a wide range of emotion. A list of influential composers this piece pays homage to includes: Johan Sebastian Bach, Johannes Brahms, Johan de Meij, Antonín Dvorák, Paul Dukas, Bernard Herrmann, Gustav Holst, James Horner, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Hans J. Salter, Howard Shore, Frank Skinner, and Frank Zappa.
